I started telemark skiing in 2008, drawn by the grace of this skiing style and the unique feel underfoot. From the very first runs, I was instantly hooked.

Attachment to the "Old School" Style
To stay true to the spirit of traditional telemark, I naturally gravitated toward 75mm bindings, which are associated with the origins of this sport. At the time, the thought of switching to NTN was unthinkable to me. I wanted to remain a “purist,” attached to the "old school" style. But over time, I began to encounter some limitations. With the 75mm, each time I wanted to swap skis with friends, we had to adjust the bindings to fit different boot sizes, which could be a bit of a hassle. Additionally, I noticed that the development of 75mm equipment was benefiting from fewer and fewer innovations. Manufacturers were focusing their efforts on the more modern and versatile NTN system.

A First Step Towards NTN
After a few years, and under the influence of my friend Didier, I decided to take a first step by investing in a pair of NTN boots. The goal was to be able to test more skis and bindings. This first step allowed me to discover more versatile equipment designed for both telemark skiing and touring. It was also around this time that I had the opportunity to attend Telemark Only, a 100% telemark gathering, where I met Pierre, the founder of InwildOutdoor (formerly The M Equipment) and creator of the Meidjo binding.

This level of customization offered me comfort and control over skiing that I had never experienced before. After several years of use, I can confidently say that the Meidjo has transformed my telemark experience. Not only is it highly reliable, with very few breakages, but it also allows for an impressively simple transition to touring mode while remaining lightweight and close to the ski.
