Synopsis:
It’s November 28th, 2025. The day before the partial opening of the ski area, a month before the official launch. We meet Fabrice and Marc for the first day of filming.
The lifts are still at a standstill. We skin up in the silence of a nearly empty mountain. The sun lights our first steps. Legs slowly find their rhythm. The first tumbles remind us: everything begins anew, right here.
From a distance, resort staff prepare the slopes. We keep our distance, respecting their work. It’s a simple, luminous day, alive with that rare blend of excitement and calm—the very first breaths of winter.
The story:
It’s 8 a.m. Fabrice and Marc meet for the first outing of the season. Destination: Les Crosets, in the Dents du Midi region—our favorite playground. The sky is perfectly blue, without a cloud. As we load our bags, we check if we’ve forgotten anything. Every year, it takes a moment to rediscover the habits, the instincts, the gestures we let sleep through summer.
The mission is simple: climb to the summit, staying clear of the lift crews at work. Their dedication is remarkable, they’re preparing for tomorrow’s opening with relentless energy. At -5°C, under a fresh blanket of snow, the mountain is silent, frozen, breathtaking.
The ascent falls into rhythm. We reconnect with familiar sensations. We breathe, we laugh, we ease back into the flow. At the top, there’s a pause, that quiet moment before everything begins again.
We get ready for the season’s first real turns. The ones that awaken the body and ignite the thrill. By the fourth, Marc has claimed the first official fall of winter. We laugh, we tease—it’s part of the game. What matters most: rediscovering those unique sensations, the simple joy of being together on the mountain.
The lines flow naturally after that. We find untouched slopes, leave our mark, play with the camera gear, tweak, adjust… sometimes curse a little. But that’s the charm of these first days.
Hours pass. Legs grow heavy, smiles remain wide. We had longed for this escape, and finding ourselves here, in this light, in this nearly empty space, reminds us just how much we missed the mountains.
We close the day tired but happy. Hearts light, minds full of memories. A true restart—simple and sincere, exactly the way we love it.
